FSAE Competition 2017

FSAE Competition 2017

Last week was a massive week for RMIT Racing, with the FSAE competition over the weekend it was all hands on deck to get everything ready.

We managed to fly through the scrutineer, tilt test and noise test but unfortunately had some issues on the brake test. As well as this, there were several small issues that arose with the clutch and gearbox.

The culmination of all of these errors meant that despite fixing everything and having an incredible car, we missed the final brake test gate and we were unable to compete in any dynamic events.

This was an incredibly unfortunate conclusion to our year and it highlights the importance of proper testing and validation before the competition to ensure that all of these small errors do not occur.

RMIT Racing are incredibly proud of all of the work that went in to the car from the team members, sponsors and everyone else involved in the project.

We would like to thank UTAS Motorsport who donated their brake calipers and pads to help us fix our car. There were many other teams who offered their support as well and it was great to see the support and camaraderie still alive and kicking at the Australasian event.

R17 will continue to be used for testing and validation for as long as it will let us but we look forward to presenting a completely fresh design to FSAE-A 2018.
